Hello! I'm Megan Bonicelli, a speech language pathologist by trade and birth doula by calling. I have a deep passion for supporting mothers through their unique journeys into motherhood. My path to becoming a doula was shaped by my own experiences as a mother. Motherhood brought me so much joy, but also a lot of anxiety and confusion. I never want another new mom to feel alone in that experience. My goal is to support, encourage, and guide you through your journey, no matter the path it takes, helping you create a birth plan that aligns with your preferences and unique needs. I'm here to ensure you feel empowered, knowledgeable and supported no matter how you hope to birth your baby! My own journey into motherhood wasn't without challenges. With my first child, my son, we faced a breech pregnancy that led to an emergency c-section after an ECV procedure didn't go as planned. Though he was perfect at 6lbs 15oz, the traumatic birth experience shaped my approach to future pregnancies. When expecting my second child, my daughter, I was determined to have a vaginal birth. We hired a doula, and followed her advice on preparing my body by doing all the things. However, at 39 weeks, my blood pressure began to rise, and I was advised to be induced. After receiving a Foley bulb overnight, my labor progressed on its own. My doula arrived when I was in active labor, and helped me through the challenges, providing comfort and encouragement, especially during transition. After six hours of laboring at 8cm, I opted for an epidural, and within an hour, my daughter was born healthy at 8lbs 10oz. For my third pregnancy, I hired the same doula and focused on keeping my blood pressure in check. At 40 weeks 1 day, my labor began naturally, and I labored peacefully at home for about 12 hours. Once we headed to the hospital, my water broke in the car! We arrived at the hospital around 7:15pm, and my daughter was born at 7:52pm, weighing 7lbs 4oz. My doula, who was at the hospital with another client at the same time, arrived to my room just in time to give me the support I needed for a redemptive, prayerful, and peaceful birth. I love all things Jesus, family and friends, cooking nourishing meals and feeding anyone and everyone around my table, kombucha, sunshine, and obviously birth/motherhood!
I've completed my Doula Certification through Birth Boot Camp as well as a four month long one-on-one mentorship with Zoe Birth LLC.
